News for international students! Home Affairs have tinkered with their Genuine Student (GS) requirement, replacing the previous Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement for Student visas starting March 23, 2024.

Australia’s new Genuine Student (GS) requirement focuses solely on whether students genuinely intend to study in Australia. Additionally, the change acknowledges post-study pathways to permanent residency, offering international students opportunities to contribute to Australia’s skilled workforce. The new requirement also serves to identify non-genuine students, ensuring that only legitimate applicants are granted visas.
