The Australian Government will close the stream of the Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408) which was specifically designed for Australian Government-endorsed events related to the COVID-19 Pandemic, commonly known as the ‘Covid visa’.

The ‘Covid visa’ was introduced in April 2020 to facilitate the stay of temporary migrants during COVID-19 travel restrictions and thereafter as a means to assist businesses and the economy in Australia’s post-pandemic recovery.

With Australia’s borders now open and the pandemic becoming an interesting memory, Australia is reverting back to pre-pandemic migration levels. The program will officially close as of 1 February 2024.

Only those holding a Temporary Activity (Subclass 408) visa may re-apply before this time, if they have 28 days or less remaining on their visa.

Adieu Covid visa, you were a blessing during a tumultuous time!
