If you’re an employer or visa applicant using the South Australian DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement), there are a few key changes now in effect from 1 July 2025. Here’s what you need to know:
SA DAMAs Extended
Both South Australian DAMAs have been officially extended to 30 June 2026. Existing benefits under the program remain in place, including:
- Age concession up to 55
- 10% reduction to the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)
- English language and work experience concessions
Faster PR Pathway
For those on a Subclass 482 Skills in Demand (SID) visa, the pathway to permanent residency has been shortened. You can now apply for the Subclass 186 ENS visa after just two years on your 482 visa.
ILA Restrictions
From 1 July 2025, if an occupation is listed on a specific Industry Labour Agreement (ILA), it can no longer be accessed through the SA DAMA. Instead, employers must use the relevant ILA to sponsor workers in those occupations. This applies to:
- New labour agreement requests
- Requests to vary an existing DAMA (e.g. adding occupations or changing nomination ceilings)
- ENS nominations
The good news? Any work already completed under the DAMA in the nominated occupation can still be counted toward the ENS Subclass 186 work experience requirements under the ILA pathway
Looking Ahead
The South Australian Government has also announced plans to negotiate a new five-year statewide DAMA in 2025–26.
